Writ 1-4
I'd been toying with the idea of doing something with old tram & rail tickets. A few hours this afternoon gave me a chance to start playing around. Here are the results. Terribly slow on the uptake, it really hadn't occurred to me before the homophonic possibilities of the Flemish "Rit" and "Ritten". Thus travel and writing really do coincide ...

I like these a lot, O Carpenter. Very effective. The one with the woman's face ought to be a book cover...

Thanks.
I'm pleased that I finally got down to doing them. You put it off & then find it's fun once you're in. That said, the weather is just so stunningly beautiful it seems a bit perverse to closet myself upstairs with the blinds down. (Wasn't that Auden's way of working? - On Ischia he'd disappear into his work room, curtained against the sun, to reappear at lunchtime for drinkies. Might try it).
The one you mention - the woman's face comes from (of all things) a paint catalogue. Looking at it deformed - or surrealistically 'detourned' if you prefer - she reminds me of the woman playing Ian Curtis' girlfriend in the Joy Div. film I didn't enjoy. Whether there are any subconscious connections - I'll leave that to the Soul Doctor.
I rather like the last one - the old adage that less is more (as so often).
Ideally I'd issue these as tickets - permissions to travel ... and write ... or credit cards ... yes, - Visas to strange destinations.
The C.
