Ane Brun is the offender. At the time of posting I was thinking this could be another great Scandinavian chanteuse (I'm keen on Stina Nordenstam & Lisa Ekdahl) but this is just too country & folky for me. That said, the string arrangements are good. No, this one is a thumbs down.
Incidentally, I read The Thirty-Nine Steps yesterday. One of those surely-you've-read-it novels. Rather good. And suggestive in all sorts of Deleuzean ways in terms of self and landscape and politics. I have dim memories of the Hitchcock film version - which don't tally much with the novel. Ever read it?
Got the 3-DVD set out of Deleuze interviews with Claire Parnet. I'm pleased to say my French is pretty much up to speed (I'd say I'm getting 80 per cent) and I got through A for Animals and B for drink (Boissons) last night. Aside from the discussion I notice GD's abnormally long fingernails and CP's chain smoking. All very Parisian & hyper-intellectual. I don't get the sense that GD was particularly chummy. Derrida was much motre dandified and always reminded me of the ex-Doctor Who John Pertwee.
The run-up to school begins as of Tuesday with the inevitable impact upon the Blog & regularity (& quality) of posting. Plus the Missus is away in San Diego for a conference. Where's Nanny McPhee when you need her?
OK.
Nearly time for a glass to ease into the evening ...

Yes, I couldn't listen to too much of that, I agree. Who was it?
